“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
ROMANS 12:2 (NIV)
Christian Education: Youth and Family
Splash! Packs:
These resources are distributed to families with children birth to three-years-old to begin forming a foundation of faith using Bible stories, prayer, worship and devotional times in their daily lives.
Introduction to the Bible:
Students in the Third Grade class (or any older student who has not yet received a Bible) are given a new Bible from the church and spend time with a teacher reviewing its contents. Parents also play a key role in this class and present these Bibles to their children during a worship service at the culmination of the class.
First Communion Instruction:
Our baptized members who have not yet received Holy Communion attend this class, led by Pastor Mike, to learn about the sacrament of Holy Communion with our Lord. After completing the class, their first communion may take place in a worship service of their choice along with fellow congregation members.
Confirmation Class:
Seventh and Eighth Grade Confirmation Class instruction, led by Pastor Mike and Mark White, takes place during the Sunday School hour (10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Sept. thru May). In addition, scheduled retreat-format events are held throughout the year, which include fellowship, food, fun and discussion among those preparing to make the “Affirmation of their Baptism” (a.k.a. “Confirmation”).
Another exciting event offered to this group is Confirmation Camp held each summer at Stony Lake in New Era, Michigan. Confirmation Camp is a weeklong overnight Christian camp experience hosted my Living Water Ministries, and supported by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
