“For no one can lay any foundation other than the one that has been laid; that foundation is Jesus Christ.”
I Corinthians 3:11 (NRSV)
Roots
Pilgrim Lutheran Church began with pastors from Port Huron and Sarnia, Ontario meeting with people in Marysville to lead worship in homes.
In 1947, a congregation formed through an extension program of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. The first church building was a small white clapboard building that was moved from St. Clair to the corner of what is now Michigan Avenue and Collard Avenue. The present church building was dedicated in 1954.
In 1976, PLC left the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod and became a member of the Association of Evangelical Lutheran Churches.
In 1988, Pilgrim merged with other AELC, LCA, and ALC congregations to form the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
